Auto views Maruti Suzuki Celerio

The Celerio is one of the most popular hatchbacks from the Maruti Suzuki brand. Launched in February 2014 the Celerio is the first Maruti Suzuki vehicle fitted with the Auto Manual Transmission (AMT) gear box. The MSIL has introduced diesel variants of the car in June 2015.

Variants and prices

There are 13 petrol, one CNG and 6 diesel variants for the car in trims of LXi, VXi, ZXi, LDi, VDi and ZDi. The LXi AT, VXi AT and ZXi AT have AM transmission gear boxes. The petrol variants are priced Rupees 4.0 to 5.19 lakh and the diesel ones Rupees 4.72 to 5.78 lakh. Exteriors

The Trendy body of the Celerio has external features like wraparound head lights, a wide grille with 2 horizontal Chrome slats, a wide air dam on the body coloured bumper flanked by fog lamps and a ribbed roof. The ZXi and ZDi variants have internally adjustable body coloured ORVMs with blinkers and body coloured door handles.

Interiors

The cabin of the Celerio is spacious because of its large wheel base of 2425 mm. The standard cabin features include fabric seats, a manual AC, child lock facilities, partially folding rear seat and an engine immobiliser. The ZXi and ZDi variants have one airbag, central locking facility, tilt adjustment for the steering, power windows, a rear wiper and defogger and a 1 Din music system with Bluetooth for telephony. The Optional variants have 2 airbags and ABS additionally.

Engines

The petrol variants of the Celerio have 998 cc, 67 bhp and 90 NM torque engines giving mileages of 23.1 kmpl. The diesel variants give mileages of 27.62 kmpl with the 793 cc, 46 bhp and 125 NM torque engines. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in 13.3 seconds and the top speed is 140 kmph.

Suspensions and braking

The suspensions with McPherson struts at the front and the 3-link axle at the rear make the ride comfortable. The brake system with disc and drum brakes on R13/R14 wheels is supported by ABS in top variants.
